Many companies already have time sheet systems in place to record hours worked by their employees against accounts. These systems integrate with HR/Personnel systems for holiday and sickness monitoring, with Payroll for overtime and business mileage, with Finance Systems for cost analysis and invoicing and with the company's Project Management systems for progress and cost management. Traditionally one or more staff are used to manually type time sheet records from paper timesheets into the time sheet system. Staff can now enter their own time sheets and have them verified electronically by a supervisor. This cuts out the wasted time and cost of filling out a paper time sheet, having it approved and then having it input. It also ensures that the approval is after the input which guards against input errors.
