23/8: Fastest Diesel on the Planet

Congratulations go to JCB and their DieselMax team for winning the world land speed record for a diesel powered car.  They broke the previous record by over 100mph achieving 328.767mph.  It was a great achievement for JCB and for British Engineering.

For those of you who don't know, my partner Julie works for JCB so I'm a little biased.

The team have been out on the Salt Flats in Utah following in the tyre tracks of Sir Malcolm Campbell and his son Donald.

Anyway, here's a picture of two JCBs.  Can you guess which one got the record?

Update Thursday 24th August - Scratch that record, it's now 350.092mph.  Apparently the car hasn't yet tried sixth gear so it sounds like there is more to come ...
